We have a couple of Grand National runners that are perfect selections for Liverpool FC fans. With Brendan Rodgers men currently riding high in the Premier League what better time to focus on horses that can be linked to Anfield.
As Liverpool don’t play on the Saturday of the race, fans will be able to enjoy the action from Aintree before heading down to London to watch Liverpool take on West Ham.
So which runners look a good bet for true Kopites?
We’ll start with the obvious horse for LFC fans: Walkon, as in… Walk on walk on with hope in your heart. And you’ll never walk alone with. This grey horse was 2nd in the Topham Chase last year at Aintree, so he’s got that in his favour. On the downside he’s never won past 2 and a half miles, so the gruelling grand national trip could be too much for him. He also has some blue in his silks which might put off ardent reds.
[SOdds Lion Na Bearnai]
As Liverpool aim to close the gap on league leaders Chelsea, reds might want to consider the Irish raider Lion Na Bearnai. Who’s name in gaelic translates to ‘fill the gap’. This horse has a live chance and with a nice splash of ‘Liverpool’ red on his silks he could well be a good each way bet.
[SOdds Double Seven]
Striker Luis Suarez can take much of the credit for recent resurgence of Liverpool. The lethal number 7 has hit plenty of doubles this season, so it seems like ‘Double Seven’ would be the perfect horse for fans of the Uruguayan striker.
If you’re asked for a Grand National tip from a Manchester United fan you could suggest ‘There’s No Panic’ However, at number 59 in the running order he’s unlikely to make the cut – a bit like United this year!
