Royalty and horse racing have always gone hand-in-hand and the Sport of Kings is to become the sport of Princesses this weekend as Princess Anne is set to head North to Liverpool for the 2014 Crabbies Grand National.
Undoubtedly she'll be there to support her daughter Zara Philips, who's husband Mike Tindall is one of three co-owners of Monbeg Dude, the current second favourite for the Aintree showpiece.
Both will be watching as the Michael Scudamore trained nine year old heads off over the 30 fences in a bid to win the first ever £1 Million race held at the racecourse.
Zara Philips has been credited with bringing on and improving Monbeg's jumping abilities and connections are hoping that improvement over the fences will bolster his chances in a bid to add the Aintree Grand National to the Welsh Grand National he won in 2012.
Should he win, it will a first for the Royal Family who have never won the Grand National with the Queen Mother previously coming the closest with Devon Loch in 1956 before he fell on the run in.
Despite being as short as 10/1 with some bookmakers, Monbeg Dude is still 12/1 with Paddy Power for those who fancy a flutter on a royal chance.
