Swing Bill Last In For 2014 Grand National

It’s been a tense few days for David Pipes yard as they waited to find out of 13-year-old Swing Bill would make the cut for his third successive Aintree Grand National.

With the final declarations for the Aintree showpiece many anticipated that more than one horse would be withdrawna dn the betting markets reflected that with Goonyella, at number 42, dropping to as low as 28/1 with some bookmakers.

But with the deadline now passed only one withdrawal was made, Lost Glory from Jonjo O’Neill, and that left the door open for Swing Bill to line-up on Saturday, giving Pipe three lively contenders.

Plans for Swing Bill had been flexible and held a dual entry to both the Grand National and the Topham Chase but it now looks like he’ll be saddling up on Saturday with David Pipe confirming, via Twitter, that Conor O’Farrell would be riding him.
