Shakalakaboomboom For National

Fresh off the back of a blinding Cheltenham win, Shakalakaboomboom is being heavily considered for the John Smith’s Grand National, according to trainer Nicky Henderson.

Barry Geraghty rode a magnificent race in the three-mile Majordomo Hospitality Handicap Chase at Cheltenham recently, beating out race favourite Sunnyhillboy to victory and giving Henderson some food for thought when it comes to possible entry into the country’s favourite race in April 2012.

Initially, Shakalakaboomboom had planned a run over the famous Grand National fences in the Betfred Becher Chase but those plans for an Aintree rehearsal were curtailed due to the conditions.

Despite this, the trainer is eyeing a run at the Grand National for Shakalakaboomboom in 2012 after his recent performances caught the eye. Don’t rush out and put any bets on just yet though as Henderson has stipulated that the gelding must have good ground!!
