Cappa Bleu National Plans
With the closing deadline for the 2012 Grand National entries just around the corner, it has been revealed that Cappa Bleu is to be aimed at National along with his stable companions Deep Purple and State Of Play all of whom are trained by Evan Williams.
State Of Play will head back to Aintree without the aid of a prep run but with three consecutive finishes in the money at the Grand National already under his belt it’s probably not necessary anyway. Cappa Bleu on the other hand has already raced twice this year, winning at Haydock on his reappearance before finishing third in the Welsh National at Chepstow.
Williams said “He’s come out of the race really well and we learned plenty about him at Chepstow,
“The ground was not what we wanted, but I think he showed there is no doubt he stays a trip and it was also nice to see him put two, solid back-to-back runs together.
“He’ll be entered for the Grand National, along with State Of Play and Deep Purple and none of them will run again before the weights are released.
“We’ll see what the handicapper gives each of them and then decide if we’re going to Aintree and if we are, what route we’re going to take.”
State Of Play will make history if he finishes in the top four again – no other horse has ever done it four years on the trot!
