Our Island was seven years old for the 2012 Grand National and trained by Tim Vaughan and was sitting as the second reserve on the final list of 2012 Grand National entries with only a couple of days to go until the big race. He would need two further horses to withdraw by Friday morning to make the cut.
With only seven chase starts to his name and of them only two second places, Our Island needs a lot more experience if he is to ever have a chance of competing at this level, in fact I’d be surprised if he even made the cut.
Age, weight and experience are all going to go against him but with enough future races, he cold be a serious contender in a couple of years time. Until then then 100/1 odds currently on offer by Paddy Power bookmakers are more than optimistic!
