Some of the jockeys are now being confirmed for the 2012 Grand National and while some will take much longer to make a decision one man who has firmly been backed is Robbie Power who will partner Killyglen for trainer Stuart Crawford.
Power won the Grand National on Silver Birch in 2007 for Gordon Elliott, and has been Killyglen's regular partner since the horse joined Crawford's County Antrim yard from Howard Johnson's stable in 2010.
He was entered in 2011 and was running along nicely before he fell at the fourth-last fence so with a bit more luck on his side this year, he could well make an impact, particularly after his most recent run at Down Royal where he romped home by 5L over Saddlers Storm.
Trainer Crawford said: “Robbie rides him, all being well. He rode him last year and has ridden him a few times. He knows him well and so that's the plan. Fingers crossed everything works out.”
He went on: “He came out of Down Royal well and didn't have too hard a race. It's all systems go now and we'll keep him ticking over for Aintree.
“I was delighted with him and it was great to get a prep run into him, and so close to home as well.
“He was still in his stable at one o'clock and he was back in it before 6.30 that night, so it was a good day out for him.
“That was one of the reasons we chose to go there. Ideally a little bit better ground would have helped, but it was OK in the end.”
Paddy Power have shortened the odds on Killyglen from 25/1 to a very short 14/1 – but that's still an excellent value each-way bet!
