With the 2012 Grand National only days away, it would appear that trainers are starting to make some decisions and with Burton Port having been allocated 11-07 for the event, it's understandable that trainer Nicky Henderson may be considering alternative options for his horse.

Instead Burton Port will contest the Betfred Bowl instead, the trainer has told the Racing Post. Not only does the horses's weight factor in to it but also the fact that both he and Ballabriggs are both owned by Trevor Hemmings who, it would appear, wants to spread the chances of success. Having said that, Burton Port hasn't been withdrawn in case Ballabriggs can't make it.
The trainer said: “Burton Port's main objective will be the Betfred Bowl but he will be kept in the Grand National as a reserve in case anything unexpected happens to Trevor’s Ballabriggs – hopefully it won't.
It now like the only horse Henderson will have competing in the 2012 Grand National is Shakalakaboomboom, who is 16/1 with Paddy Power bookmakers.
“The National has always been the plan and he's had a nice preparation,” the trainer told At The Races.
He added: “He's been round there before and 10st 12lb is generally deemed to be in an area where a horse can win from.”
