How To Bet Each Way

The most popular type of bet on the Grand National is the ‘Each Way’ bet. It’s the bet that gives you the best chance of getting a return on your money.

If you place your each way bet online with Paddy Power, you’ll be betting that your horse will be one of the first 5 horses past the finishing post. If your horse comes in 1st, you’ll get the full quoted odds, should your horse come in 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th you’ll get a quarter of the quoted odds. You can use our bet calculator to work out your exact winnings.

Placing an each way bet in the bookies shop is a little confusing, doing it online is as easy as clicking in a box. We have made a video to show you how easy it is bet eachway online with Paddy Power online.

Technically the Each Way bet is two bets in one: a Win bet and a Place bet. You are betting on your horse to either win or be placed. This bet costs as much as two bets, because that’s what it is. So a £5 each way bet will cost you £10 (a £5 bet to win plus a £5 bet for a place).
