Mullins Bags A Treble

The 2012 Grand National may not have gone the way trainer Willie Mullins had hoped but that hasn’t stopped him from getting back in the saddle, so to speak, and continuing on his winning ways.

Mullins stole the show last week at Punchestown Racecourse with a treble, kicking off with Raptor ending a frustrating run without a win when battling to victory in the 10Euro Admission Chase.

Mullins’ 11-8 favourite was without a win in six starts before this and looked to have a real battle on his hands when he and Slieveardagh took up the running at the second-last fence. However, Slieveardagh took a crashing fall at the last, allowing Ruby Walsh to coast home, 15 lengths clear of Uncle Tom Cobley.

His second winner gave jockey Ruby Walsh a double, when Letherbelucky (4-5 favourite) added a hurdling win to her bumper success in the jogforjockeys.ie (Mares) Maiden Hurdle.

But Mullins treble came when 2-1jf Passage Vendome got the better of fellow market leader Buy Back Bob in the www.irishracehorseowners.com Maiden Hurdle under jockey Emmett Mullins.

Now doubt he’s already gearing up for the 2012-2013 National hunt Season and if he continues his winning form we will all be waiting for his 2013 Grand National Entries with eager anticipation!
