A triple threat this year for the 2013 Grand National as the Walsh family dominate in the racing headlines. With siblings Ruby and Katie riding the two race favourites – On His Own and Seabass and father training two hopefuls – Seabass and Colbert Station there is a real possibility that the Walsh family can do a 1-2-3 in the places!
[Racecard On His Own]
Aiming to be the first female jockey in history to win a grand national, Katie Walsh is the most likely to go off as race favourite, which will be the first time a horse with a female jockey has done so other than back in 2005 when Carrie Ford went off as joint favourite, and she currently heads the betting markets on 15/2.
Two time Grand National winning jockey, Ruby Walsh, trying not to be outdone by his sister is a close second favourite at 9/1 as and as early as this morning both were on the same odds.
And with Grand National winning trainer Ted Walsh also in the picture with Colbert Station, on which AP McCoy rides for his boss JP McManus, this Grand National is turning out to be family affair to outdo all family affairs especially if luck is on their side.
The bookmakers are running a host of Walsh centred betting options including “Katie & Ruby Walsh to finish 1,2 in any order – 25/1” with either of them winning the Grand National at a very short 4/1!
