Monbeg Dude

Monbeg Dude came to prominence when he won the Coral Welsh National in January 2013, an event rescheduled from December 2012 due to bad weather.

Trained by Michael Scudamore, Monbeg Dude is a very exciting prospect for the 2015 Crabbies Grand National particularly he has already run the course and finished in 7th place in the 2014 renewal.

Coral Welsh National Winner and 7th in the 2014 Grand National

Owned by a small syndicate that include ex-England International rugby player, Mike Tindall, Monbeg Dude has benefitted greatly from his connections not least of which is the Royal Zara Philips, the Queen's granddaughter, who has been lending a helping hand when it comes to improving his jumping ability.

Prior to last year's National, he had four solid runs, three of which took place at Cheltenham in October, November and December which resulted in third, fourth and first places respectively.

His fourth run was at Doncaster in the Grimthorpe Chase on March 1st 2014 where he placed fifth with many speculating that he was just stretching his legs as a warm-up for the main event at Aintree.

This only further enhanced his Grand National prospects and saw his ante-post odds get cut from 33/1 to 25/1 to a general 16/1.

Result: He was given a solid ride by jockey Paul Carberry but couldn't manage to go better than 7th place in the finishers for £6,800.
