Unusual 2010 Grand National Bets
As the 2009 Grand National demonstrated, picking a winner can be a very difficult thing to do because no matter how much you consider form, jockey's, trainers, odds, favourites etc..., a complete outsider can take them all by storm and romp home.
Add that to the fact that most horses are not accustomed to running in a field with nearly 40 others, nor are they use to running and jumping such a gruelling course so if you're a bit wary of placing your hard earned cash on such an uncertain bet then why not consider something with a little less risk.
PaddyPower.com has a whole host of bets that may take your fancy so let's run through them and see if we can spot a few winners...
Winner to be Trained in Ireland - 9/4
Irish horses have done phenomenally well over the last 10 years at the Aintree Grand National and 2010 shouldn't be any different. However, look at the horses that have been entered, check the number of Irish representatives as a proportion of the final 40 that line-up and work out if the odds are worth it. e.g. if the bookie is offering odds of 2/1 then by rights, there should be at least 20 Irish horses in the final line-up...
All runners to Clear the First Fence Safely - 4/1

For two years running, all of the horses running in 2008 and 2009 actually cleared the first fence. It's highly unusual but if you think it can be done three years in a row then go for it!
