Jack Doyle is a National Hunt jockey who primarily rides out for trainer Victor Dartnell and has had plenty of success over the last five seasons with his best year in 2008-09 when he rode 39 winners.
He had previously obtained the majority of his rides from trainer Emma Lavelle but following the appointment of Noel Fehily as Stable jockey in February 2012, his opportunities became limited with Lavelle saying at the time: “I would imagine we can still give Jack Doyle the odd opportunity but I expect he will be embarking on a new chapter in his own career.”
Which he has duly gone and done and this season alone he’s on 15 wins from 178 starts which is an 8% win rate, slightly down on previous seasons where he generally attains wins in excess of 12% of his booked rides. But adding in over 70 places and he has still managed to rack up over £160K for connections.
For the 2014 Crabbies Grand National Doyle will be on board Wayward Prince for trainer Hilary Parrott. He’s very familiar with him having already raced him on nine different occasions, winning once and placing twice.
The duo have already run at Aintree and finished sixth in the Betfred Bowl Chase last season at the festival and they also won the Betfred Treble Odds On Lucky 15’s Chase back in December 2012, also at Aintree so they have previous good form over the course which may be an advantage.
