Out of a total of 40 horses that started the 2005 John Smith’s Grand National, 21 of them finished. Tony McCoy failed to finish once again when Clan Royal was carried out late on while Carrie Ford was overjoyed to finish fifth on Forest Gunner.
But the biggest smile was worn by Ruby Walsh, who emerged victorious on the Willie Mullins-trained Hedgehunter.
