Any Currency is the 10 year old Irish horse trained by Martin Keighley and owned by the syndicate Cash Is King. Throughout his career, Any Currency had never unseated his rider but that unfortunately happened in the Becher Chase at Aintree on December 8th 2012.
But true to his consistent form he has never fallen and from 21 chase starts has won three of them as well as finishing with two seconds and four third places. He has also won at over 3m and won or placed at other very high profile racecourses such as Ascot, Cheltenham and Sandown.
Any Currency was a reserve for the 2012 Grand National and was number 41 with only a couple of days to the big race. He was allocated 9-08 by the BHA Handicapper and 10-00 is the absolute minimum a horse can carry on the day and with no more horses being withdrawn at the last scratchings he didn’t make the line-up on April 14th 2012.
He had five starts prior to the 2013 National, with the most recent at Cheltenham where he finished 9th in the Glenfarclas Handicap Chase, 26 lengths behind the winner Big Shu.
He was entered again for 2013 due to the number of withdrawals he finally made it into the Top 40 for April 6th with a weight of exactly 10-00 with jockey Ian Popham on board and though he may not have placed in the money, Any Currency completed the course and finished in 17th place having gone off at odds of 100/1.
