Campbell Gillies the jockey who rode to victory on Brindisi Breeze in the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival has died whilst on Holiday in Greece. At 21 years old Gillies had already notched up 131 winners in his short career, he was due to celebrate his 22nd Birthday on Wednesday.
Recently Brindisi Breeze the horse Gillies enjoyed his biggest win with was also killed in a tragic accident. After escaping from the his paddock the horse was struck by a lorry and fatally injured.
As yet little is known about the accident which happened on a family holiday in Kavos. However, a number of sources are reporting the incident involved a swimming pool.
Meanwhile Tributes for the Scottish Jockey have continued to poured in on twitter.
