The 1910 Grand National is the earliest to have appeared in moving images. The races between 1910 and 1915 held no great surprises and between 1916/1918 no races were held at Aintree as it was taken over by the War Office for use in the the war effort.
A National of sorts was held at Gatwick it was known as the Racecourse Association Steeple Chase, we haven’t included this because those races are not calculated in the Aintree statistics.
1919 saw the first running of the Grand National at Aintree since 1915 and the race was won by Poethlyn who was ridden by one of the all time great jockey’s, Ernie Piggott.
