At number 90 on the 2014 Crabbies Grand National list it was always going to be an uphill battle for Rockyaboya to get a run for this renewal.
He was only given 9-11, based on an OR of 134 and it would almost have taken a miracle for him to make the cut.
He is trained by Irish Champion Trainer Willie Mullins and owned by his son Patrick and has been a pretty handy hurdler over the last few seasons and is progressing nicely through the chasing ranks but as of yet has only started in five of them, winning two.
He was a surprising winner of the Paddy Power Chase at Leopardstown back on December 27th beating out the likes of Victrix Gale, Home Farm and Romanesco, all of whom were also entered into this year’s Grand National.
And although that win greatly increased both his rating and his chances for a starting place in the National, it wasn’t on the cards and he was withdrawn at the first scratching stage on February 25th.
He’s 10-years-old and of course, will be 11 for the 2015 Grand National but if he continues his winning ways he just might be in with a chance next year.
